I have owned two American Pitbull Terriers, and I have never experienced any horror stories with these breeds. I don't know how many arguements I have got in with people about this loving breeds. People always tell me they just look intimadating.
Belive it or not most of the stories you have heard about Pitbulls tearing off someones arm or leg is not true. 85% of these stories are dogs that are Pitbull mixed. I have seen dogs 1/4 of a Pits size that are meaner then they are.
These are truly the most loyal dogs they will never let their owner down. One bad thing about Pits are when they get bord. When a Pitbull gets bord they will do anything to entertain themselves. I have watched my older Pit arun around in circles in my yard just going as fast as he can.
I just ask everyone to do a little research on the breed before you judge them.
